Ed & Peggy Monagle

The Monagle Group: Ed and Peggy Monagle are the principals of The Monagle Group and they have recently launched Right Fit Reading Partners, an educational technology company. They have combined Peggy's background in Education and Ed's experience in the publishing business to create a new publishing company. Ed has been a financial executive in the publishing business for more than 30 years. He started his career at McGraw Hill and he was one of the financial managers responsible for the Professional and General Publishing Group. He gained a reputation for building information systems at McGraw Hill that enhanced the profitability of the business units that he managed. He was recruited by Scholastic in 1985 to build the management systems and new business initiatives needed to improve the overall profitability of the Scholastic Book Group. Through new business initiatives, acquisitions, new product lines, better management, and the discovery of Harry Potter the Book group grew to a $1.4 billion business.  Mr. Monagle left Scholastic in 2005 and he has been an independent consultant to a number of the major publishers. Over the past two years he has discovered the value of the Lexile
Framework for Reading and the value of matching reading levels to content at the same level. The combination of the school distribution business on a web based platform with a program that will match each child’s reading level will change the way the school distribution business will function going forward. It will also create new business opportunities as the lexile standard becomes better known. He will apply his publishing experience to work with the Tale of Two Cities team to build the brand and merchandise franchise of A Tale of Two Cities.
