David attended Cornell University and Stanford University, graduating from Stanford with a BA (Cum Laude) in English/Drama. Following Stanford, he attended the Julliard School of Drama and graduated from the Advanced Acting Program two years later.
As a performer, David has had the pleasure of working with numerous gifted artists including; Sir Ian McKellan, Jane Seymour, Tim Curry, David Dukes, Frank Langella, Mary Mastrantonio, Peter Firth, John Woods, John Pankow, Amy Irving, Cloris Leachman, Dean Jones, Len Cariou, Elaine Stritch, John McMartin, Lonette McKee, Richard Chamberlain, Carole Shelly, John Schneider, Bernadette Peters, Jeremy Northam, Woody King, Jack Lee, Sir Trevor Nunn, Howard Davies, Hal Prince, Stephen Sondheim, and Sir Peter Hall.
David’s foray into producing began several years ago with the formation of David Martel Productions. He and his wife, screenwriter Toinette Terry, are involved with development of original film and theatre works including ‘Double Dutch”, “Fersen”, and “The Severity of Rejection”. David produced and wrote the music and lyrics for. “Our Love”. He also has produced and performed on the original CD, “Swingin”, featuring the best of Frank Sinatra’s music during the Capitol Years. Currently, he is writing the libretto for a new musical comedy, “Roxy”. Because of his passion for Dickens and love of musical theater, he is “thrilled to be associated with “A Tale of Two Cities” and the talented creative team which has been assembled!”
