Jill Santoriello's A Tale of Two Cities, the Dickens-inspired musical that had a test run in Sarasota, FL, last fall, will begin Broadway previews Aug. 19 toward a Sept. 18 opening at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.

BroadwayWorld.com has learned the the Jill Santoriello penned A Tale of Two Cities, which played the Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota, Florida in the Fall of 2007 will open on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on September 18, 2008. Previews will begin on August 19, 2008 with rehearsals set to start on "Bastille Day", July 14th.

The hit bound-for-Broadway musical, "A Tale of Two Cities" has found finally a home on Broadway, executive producers Barbra Russell and Ron Sharpe announced Tuesday.
The show premiered at the Asolo Repertory Theater in Sarasota last fall to standing-room only audiences during a try-out run and has been waiting for a Broadway slot ever since.
Russell and Sharpe, who are married, said local audiences recongized the show as a potential hit.

The Broadway musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities is coming to Broadway. The sweeping epic, featuring a book, music and lyrics by Jill Santoriello, will start performances at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on August 19, with an opening night set for September 18.
