Edward B. Kessel

Edward B. Kessel founded Sound Imagination, a music production company in 1986.
Edward has composed, arranged and produced orchestral and chamber music, Broadway musicals, songs, film scores, TV soundtracks, and commercial scores. His credits include projects for Tony Bennett, Billy Gilman, Steven Spielberg, the 2004 Olympics, SeaWorld, AT&T, Macy’s, Six Flags and National Geographic.
With two recent top forty hits to his credit Edward has made his mark as a songwriter. Six of his songs were recorded on an album by multi-platinum selling Country Star, Billy Gilman. The CD entitled Everything And More was released May, 2005. Edward’s song, Hey Little Suzie was selected as the single and was in the top 20 on GAC (music television) for five weeks. Edward’s new song Southern Star was selected as the single on Billy’s newest album, Billy Gilman. Southern Star was released in August 2007 and has made the top 40 and continues to climb the charts. Most recently, Edward arranged and produced the title track, Believe, for the new Shamu show at SeaWorld in Florida and San Diego.
In 1995, Edward appeared on the nationally televised show, Preview, for his work on the soundtrack of the movie, Passing Thru Linden, Francis Ford Coppola, Executive Producer. In October 1998, Edward completed a Grammy nominated Columbia Records CD with Tony Bennett, Rosie O'Donnell, Kermit The Frog, and Elmo, as co-director of KidzAmerica. He composed and produced the score for a feature film entitled Some Fish Can Fly, produced by Zopap Entertainment, which was released in theaters November 1999. In that same year he wrote the soundtrack to a National Geographic TV special entitled Crows, which aired on national TV. Edward wrote Voice Of Freedom, (a 9/11 tribute) which was selected as the theme song for Flight Across America. Voice Of Freedom was performed live on the U.S.S. Intrepid and at Jersey City’s 9/11 Memorial Ceremony.
Mr. Kessel has also composed various pieces for orchestra and chamber music ensembles. His composition Voices Of Art, a symphonic work for orchestra, was premiered by The New Philharmonic of New Jersey on May 6, 1995. The piece received the highest critical acclaim and was recorded on CD. Mr. Kessel composed a dramatic character piece for the United States National Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Ceremonies of Remembrances and Dedications in honor of Eli Weisel, Steven Spielberg and Isaac Stern, for their efforts on behalf of Holocaust survivors and victims. In 1998, Edward received a fellowship from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State.
In addition to his composition and production career, Mr. Kessel performs as a freelance trumpeter in studios and ensembles such as The New Philharmonic of New Jersey, Garden State Brass Quintet, and The New Vintage Brass. He appeared at Carnegie Hall (NY) in 1992, in a performance under the auspices of the Christian Broadcast Network, featuring sacred choirs from around the world. In 1994, he traveled to Rome along with the Queen of Peace Choir (New Jersey) performing at an audience for the Pope at the Vatican. His playing has been heard on numerous nationally broadcast commercials and soundtracks.
